Orange you glad you aren't a popscicle?

So my friend Dain bought Derek a book about popscicles and a frozen pop mold for his birthday. Since we've been busy moving and traveling we hadn't gotten to use it yet. Last night while Derek was still off recording I decided to surprise him and make orange juice pops! I knew we had a fairly relaxing weekend ahead of us, and it was going to be sunny and hot (finally!). So I filled up the molds and stuck them in the fridge. Unfortunately I got a little carried away and fell in too. Oops!

I finally got out when Derek got home, and got hungry. And the pops were still delicious.
Oh and Happy Spring!!! What would you put in a popscicle mold? We're going to have a house warming party soon and hopefully have lots of declious frozen treats to serve our friends. So let me know if you have any good ideas!

Side Note: We went to see Alice in Wonderland last night, so maybe, just maybe this was a bit inspired. I liked the movie, but thought it could have been a bit more fantastical and outrageous considering the director and cast. None the less it was cute.

Babe the Cow and Frozen Cornfields.

I finally got back some of my film from my Christmas trip to Connecticut. This is where I grew up, and where I truly feel at home. Derek now understands why I get excited to see cows on the side of the road when we drive up the California coast. Although he looks miserable in the 2nd picture (which I love) he felt right at home here also. So without further babble: Ashford, Ct via frozen ponds, cornfields and cows. Enjoy.

(some little indoor plants trying to survive the winter, with 13inches of snow outside)

I figured I'd post these now before spring is in full force.

Blog Love

Happy Monday!

Just wanted to say a quick hi and let you know Derek is being featured on one of my favorite peoples blogs today as part of her Music Monday feature. Go check it out and give Dainty* and Derek some good lovin'.

We're moving this coming weekend, so we have a very hectic week of packing ahead of us. I'm also trying to get some last minute things done for Derek's brothers wedding in two weeks. I found the perfect dress yesterday (and it was super cheap) but I need to get it taken in, and need to find shoes. I don't really do heels, I think they are uncomfortable and I am already pretty tall so feel like a beast in them normally. However, since this is a black tie wedding I have to suck it up and go buy some.

Friday I'm also doing a sexy little shoot with my favorite hair and make-up artist. She is about 7 weeks pregnant, and wants to do a fun shoot for her husband before she gets her baby bump. Its going to be a crazy week, but all worth it. I'll try to check back with updates along the way.

Give Away Winners!

Happy Sunday everyone! As the title says I decided to choose two winners. So here they are Diana and Haley. Diana wins because I feel the same way about my parent's house. Although I live on the other side of the country so am very independent most of the time, nothing feels better than going 'home'. Haley also wins because she is one of my closest friends yet I never ever knew she lived in a blueberry field and now I'm really jealous and hope that in sending her a print she'll take me there some day. That sounds magical!!!

Email me your address at kdaigs (at) gmail (dot) com and I'll get your prints to you right away!

I'm thinking of doing one of these print giveaways every couple months so check back for more and follow me on twitter (katedaigneault) for updates

Thanks and I hope everyone has a great week!

Spring Cleaning Giveaway!

So today was work from home Wednesday. I really love these days, except they always go by way too quickly. When I'm stuck at the lab all day color correcting the hours drag. But now all of a sudden its 4pm and I haven't gotten anything on my list done for the day. I did however come up with the great idea that it was time to move again. It actually just started out over my morning tea that I thought it'd be fun to look at apartments on craigslist. Then I found one....Then I went to look at it, and the owners were there, and they were lovely, and so was the apartment. And it just so happens that our lease is up in a few days and we go month to month after that. Long story short I fell in love with a super cute little apartment with a big sunken yard thats pushed pretty far off the street. It still has lots of cute built ins and vintage tiles, but is maybe a bit smaller than the one we have now. However, my current neighbor is setting up his picnic table and grill and food right outside my living room window, like two feet away from me, as we speak. We aren't in the most private apartment right now and I need a better outdoor space especially with spring on its way. And I'd love more natural light...So long story short I'm trying not to get excited, but may be moving soon.

So that means I need to get rid of some stuff. I'm going to start that process by doing a giveaway of a favorite print from an image I took last summer. This one to be exact:

The print is rather large, a 16x16 with about a 2 inch white border all around. It would fit into a 16x16 frame or 14x14 if you trimmed the border. It was recently printed and never hung so its nice and crisp. In the spirit of apartment hunting and spring cleaning leave me a comment about the best place you ever lived and why and I'll choose a winner sometime this weekend!
Yay! Happy Wednesday

P.S If we move into this new apartment we can discuss the possibility of getting a puppy. Eeek! Rex needs a friend...

Happy Valentine's Day!

Just a quick hello to say Happy Valentines Day! Derek and I spent the weekend in Dallas with his best friends and their adorable son for birthday festivities and it was so much fun. On the flight home today I was checking my email and came across this sweet little message:
I had entered a few pictures just for fun to this contest via twitter last week and it turns out we won!!! We both get a pretty sweet gift card to Urban and our picture is all over their website. The director of marketing emailed me to tell me the picture made the whole office crack up for quite a while. I am honored because the rest of the pictures they picked as favorites are gorgeous images of other beautiful lovers. But really this one captures our personalities perfectly, so I couldn't be happier. I had friends all over the country texting me to tell me I was in their inbox this morning so it was quite the day. Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day. We just got home from a delicious Mexican feast and are ready to crash after a long weekend. So Goodnight!

Spring Please!

So everyone has been talking about how they can't wait for the snow to stop and for Spring to be here. I know I live in San Diego, so I don't get to complain about the Winter. HOWEVER I too would love for it to be Spring. For a while I was complaining about not getting snow, especially after being in 13 inches of snow for Christmas in CT. It made me really miss a REAL winter. But now I realize there is no use in hoping for snow because it simply doesn't grace
our beach lined desert. So instead I'll hope for warmth. For being able to sit outside in the grass and get some color on my skin with out also getting goose bumps. To be able to wear dresses without boots and sweaters and tights, although I do love wearing these things. Mostly to wake up and go to bed in a warm apartment. 50 degrees at night might not be very cold, but its cold when its 50 degrees in your apartment because you live in San Diego and you don't have a real heater. Its sort of really painfully cold some nights.

There is hope though. I was browsing through some old photo shoots from last year when I came across the one below. I sat staring at the green grass and pretty yellow wild flowers for a while when I realized this was shot in mid March...and it was full on Spring! Now I'm excited. Now i'm hoping that we'll start to have some warmer weather by the end of this month. I'd really love to go have a picnic at the park or at the beach without freezing. Even If I have to wear a sweater, thatsokay. So for everyone else out there hoping for some warm weather, green grass,
and sunshine colored wildflowers I wish you luck, and leave you with some spring time themed photos.
