Brooklyn or Bust

Coast to Coast

So I finally feel prepared to make a big announcement. Some of you already know this and others may have figured it out on your own, but I’m here to tell you officially now. In June of 2007 I moved to San Diego from Connecticut. I had just graduated from University packed very few things into a car and without having ever been, drove across the country to settle in sunny San Diego. I’ve had some incredible experiences, met my amazing boyfriend, enjoyed four + years of nearly perfect weather and made a tight group of friends I am honored to call my family. Another thing I have done while being here is carved out a niche for my work. When I moved to San Diego I did a lot of odd ball jobs at first, saving seals probably being the most odd. After putzing around for a while I finally came to the realization that I wanted to be a photographer. Although I went to school for the craft I had never really been sure if I was going to pursue it as a career. Frankly I never really thought it was an option. But once I decided it was, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my time.

So in September I am moving again, to New York City, to pursue photography further. Brooklyn to be exact. I am not sure how long I will be there, and I am not sure how far it will take me. I do know its now or never for this kind of change. I also know New York is pretty much THE place to be as a photographer, and that if I don’t take the chance I will regret it for a lifetime. So again I am selling pretty much everything I own and saying goodbye to a lot of people I love to take a chance on a new city I have spent very little time in. I know that however bittersweet this will be, my heart will be happy being back so close to friends and family. I’m hoping too, that the city will have a very positive impact on my creative spirit, as well as make me even more hungry to push myself to succeed.

New York is a pretty dang expensive place, so along with selling my life and my car I have decided to set up a print shop. It contains some of my favorite images from the last four years. If anyone is at all interested in helping me raise some money for my big move, please have a look around. It is appropriately titled the Coast to Coast print shop. There are a few images in there now, and only in a few size options. I will be adding more in the next few weeks. Also if you’d like something printed in a different size, or have a request for a particular print you don’t see in there, please let me know.

Also, next week is my 26th birthday, and the best present of all would be to actually make some sales so ;) Here goes….

Thank you all for the continued support I love every single one of you and will be racking up plenty of frequent flier miles to come back often…

XOOOOXOOO
